Forget the K Cup

I drink a lot of coffee. Over the years we are introduced to revolutionary new ideas that induce us to buy appliances we do not need and supplies which are more expensive and wasteful in the name of convenience.
We then try to convince ourselves that new is somehow better. Perhaps to justify the money we just threw away. I got to thinking about my wasteful convenient ways (perhaps because I'm an old codger) and decided to go back in time with my coffee habit. I bought a stovetop percolator.
As a kid I was fascinated by that bubbling on the glass top. It turns out it is still pretty cool to watch! The concept to me just makes perfect sense. The water heats to a near boil then continuously bathes the coffee grounds making my brew. I am in complete control of my brew. The way it should be. No filters needed and the grounds can go in the garden. All I need is good coarsely ground coffee. This is as intimate as you can get with your coffee.
And the taste leaves me wondering why we ever stopped making coffee this right way. My brew now is immeasureably better than it has ever been. I'll never go back to my old ways and I urge you to give it a try. I guarantee you will feel good about yourself!
